SLIDIN INTO SPRING

It's been awhile!!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a happy easter. Ours was filled with fun, friends and family just like we like it. We had an egg hunt at night with glow in the dark eggs. Only thing, they dont glow so hot so it was more like stick your hand in the bushes and clumps of clover and see what you come out with. Our friend Jay was the bunny of the day and the kids were hoppin around as much as he was when they spotted him!Anywho-we had a nachel ball!
Lets go back-way back-last time i blogged was June 2007, i think..heres a quick recap-folk fest in august was fun but Bush's stinking economy and his high gas prices kept some folks at home. Got to meet some folks i had only chatted with online and thats always an aha! Always nice to put a face with a name..great folks by th way! Back to folk fest-slotin stuck me at the end of death row and it was dark back there---had to funnel him some more money for some juice..it all came out in the wash but its starting to be a big money drain-rising prices and dwindeling crowds--something dont add up...gonna give it the miz try again this year and then the jury will be out from there...
Kentuck was my next show-great weather and a good crowd made it a pretty good show..something about being outside in October underneath the Alabama pines, soaking up the sunshine and eating pbj's just makes you feel good. We stayed with Debbie and Rick and got to see Willie KIng and the Liberators perform at Dreamland. The ribs were alabama awesome and the sweet tea runs a close second to down home. I always think of Jas Johns when i go to dreamland-he and i would always take it in on friday before kentuck--he would toss back a few beers , i would stick with my sweet tea and we would both do away with some serious ribs...RIP Jas my friend.... Music kept floating our boat as the week end rolled to a close and Sharde Thomas and the rising star fife and drum band paraded thru kentuck....My friend Ronda and I are now in a race to see who can play our fife first. Sharde learned to make the fifes from her gdaddy, Othar Turner. We were lucky enough to be able to buy one from her..they got some good mojo but they hard as hell to play--really takes talent..think i'll stick to painting...
Next, we cruised up to Louisville, Ky for good folk fest . Long jump but we saw some pretty country along the way..I was dieing to eat at lyn's paradise cafe so we sought it out first thing... it's a funky place in a cool part of town..very colorful like i like and the food was good--we didnt get to see lyn who i think is colorful herself...the show was held in an old meat packing plant-we had some good artist but the crowd stayed home. I got to meet holly hinkle and a few other artist i had chatted with. sisi and ramona, kat and i went to a restaurant that had lots of my work in it so that was pretty cool trick. The jump home was long and tiring but we had some junking stops to break it up....
Fearrington was next and always a fun show. This year we had good weather and a good crowd. Always good to see the chief--missed the tribe though...we knocked around with mike the potter and linda in our spare time-found one really out of the way rocking antique shop...filled outr vehicles with finds and headed off for a visit with clyde the critter man...he has some really cool pink elephants in his yard this year..mike n linda got a nc gator to take back to their new georgia home. Kat and i always like to eat at the general store in pittsboro--kinda bohemian, funky menu-always fresh-always good...anyhow, they are outgrowing their space so they are going bigger--they bought some of my big pieces for the new part, so, if you are ever in pittsboro-go use the womens bathroom and check out the door-you know-wild women never get the blues-believe it you can....there will be a few more pieces hanging around--tell me what you think...wrapped the show up and we all had a family style hoe down kinda supper with clyde at his favorite seafood restaurant-the dry dock..it was a sweet way to end a good show.....oh yeah, i got a prize from one of my customers!!! you should see the inch worm Robert gave me..he welds and he is good..he is color blind and i say it must be a good thang because he really funked this piece up in miz thang fashion..the boy has talent...check out my site because i am going to put a pic up of it....fearrington just wouldnt be complete with out a trip to the lilymans...we made the trek on monday-he filled our bellies with warm food and let us kick back and enjoy friend and fellowship before all going our seperate ways..kat n i rolled into jawja on the night train-glad to be home but glad to have gone.Gearing up for the donanny in seaLE, ALABAMA. hope to see ya'll there!
